About the Kateri Memorial Foundation

In 1980, THE KATERI MEMORIAL FOUNDATION was founded by several Kahnawa’keró:non community members committed to improving the healthcare needs of all Kahnawa’keró:non. On June 1st, 1991, The Kateri Memorial Foundation was established as a registered charity to act exclusively as a charitable health organization to assist with the underfunded needs of the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre and for other health-related services to the public in the vicinity of the Mohawk territory of Kahnawà:ke.
Through its volunteer board of directors and members, the foundation will solicit, receive, administer and distribute contributed funds. The funds are intended to meet the specific objectives of the foundation which aims to assist in maintaining the community’s high standard of healthcare services.

Objectives

  • To promote health by providing medical equipment and health care services to the public in the vicinity of the Mohawk territory of Kahnawà:ke;
  • To promote scientific and medical research which will be diffused to the public and by providing scholarship, bursaries and prizes in the area of health education; and
  • To gift funds to qualified donees as defined in subsection 149.1(1) of the Income Tax Act

Through continuous fundraising, the KMF supports and enhances health services that promote the well-being of all Kahnawa’kehró:non based on our Kanien’kehá:ka Values.
